Since graduating from MVS, Dr. Rahul Ballal has built a career in biotechnology, aiming to develop new treatments for patients suffering from rare diseases. This includes being a CEO of public/private companies and being part of boards serving patients and advancing novel science. In this tough field of medicine and science, Dr. Ballal has often relied on his experience at MVS to help him continue this pursuits and persist, despite often-long odds of success. 

Dr. Ballal continues to embody the MVS core values: grit to discover new science and test new medicines, integrity to kill to investigational drugs where the risk to the patient is greater than the benefit, celebration of the strength of patients who participate in clinical trials to test new medicines, and kindness towards families and caregivers who are passionately helping their loved ones. 

Dr. Ballal earned a BS in Biology from Brown University, an MS in bioinformatics from Johns Hopkins University, and a PhD from Georgetown School of Medicine.
