The Role The upper school track and field coach is tasked with overseeing the upper school track and field program, which includes organizing practices, accompanying the teams to meets, and teaching students track and field skills and techniques. The upper school track and field team competes in the Metro Buckeye Conference. In addition to maintaining a well-organized and welcoming program, the coach is an enthusiastic representative of MVS Athletics who attends athletic department events, trainings, pep rallies, and coaches’ meetings as set by the Director of Athletics.

And, of course, you will get to make an impact! As the upper school track and field head coach, you will have an impact on the greater MVS community as you build relationships with your players and nurture their success.
Expectations
Assist in preparation and planning for the recognition of athletes for your coaching season (End of year athletic awards, Senior Night).
Meet Preparation including understanding of rules and regulations of the OHSAA and Metro Buckeye Conference, score keeping, and any other duties assigned by league or meet officials (or willingness to learn).
Attend all coaches meetings.
Remain with student athletes at school or end of meets until all student athletes have been picked up after practices or away contests.
Attend sport clinics and workshops at the direction of the Athletic Director.
Attain and maintain all mandatory certifications required for my sport including but not limited to OHSAA Coaches Toolbox training, CPR, van driving, and first aid training.
Assume responsibility by returning and accounting for any uniforms or equipment loaned to the sport and players, submitting a list of students to be billed for uniform items, and a list of damaged or disreputable uniforms at the end of each season.
Assist in helping student athletes with recommendations post season and summer training and club team opportunities.
Assist in sports scheduling.
Help prepare students for the college level and with college recruitment.
Maintain records and protocols for upper school student athletes using MVS seasonal sports to meet State of Ohio graduation requirements in collaboration with the MVS Registrar.
Assist the Athletic Director with hiring and managing assistant coaching staff.
Any other duties assigned by the Athletic Director .
Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and supervise all practices, meets, and team activities.
Teach fundamental and advanced techniques in multiple events (sprints, distance, jumps, throws, relays).
Develop practice plans that emphasize safety, fitness, and progressive skill development.
Promote participation, enthusiasm, and team spirit among student-athletes.
Communicate clearly with athletes, families, and athletics staff about schedules, expectations, and logistics.
Coordinate with the Athletic Department on meet entries, transportation, uniforms, and facility use.
Model and reinforce MVS core values of integrity, celebration, grit and kindness
Ensure all athletes meet eligibility and safety requirements per OHSAA and MVS policies.
Collaborate with assistant coaches and other spring sports programs, and performing arts programs, to support multi-sport athletes.
Provide guidance for event specialization and performance improvement for competition at the varsity level.
Submit meet lineups and results to the Athletic Department promptly.
Qualifications
Experienced in the rules and regulations of track and field.
BCI/FBI background check required.
Must be able to be on their feet for long periods of time.
